Deckmaster Formula is a clear, water-based sealer that penetrates concrete and masonry. It protects, preserves, and strengthens these materials permanently.
What is Deckmaster Formula?
Over the years, the understanding of the densification process has improved with different densifiers having unique chemical compositions. Initially, Sodium, Magnesium, and Potassium Silicates were used, each meeting the basic requirements of a densifier. However, these compounds have their own challenges, such as time-consuming installation and the need for thorough floor irrigation to remove excess product. This can be costly, time-consuming, and environmentally taxing.

Lithium-based products like Deckmaster Formula achieve deeper penetration, creating a denser, harder bond and leaving fewer unreacted Calcium Hydroxide molecules. The smaller Lithium molecule ensures a more consistent reaction. In contrast, Sodium and Potassium densifiers lead to irregular reactions, leaving more unreacted Calcium Hydroxide and producing inconsistent densification. This can allow water to penetrate the concrete, causing Alkaline Silica Reaction (ASR).
Deckmaster Formula avoids this issue. Some densifiers offer higher gloss levels, but this does not guarantee deep, consistent penetration or minimal unreacted Calcium Hydroxide. Deckmaster Formula Plus, with added specific compounds, provides all the benefits of deep, consistent densification along with high water repellence.

Application Conditions
- General guidance: Products should be stored correctly before use so that their properties are not impaired.
- Substrate & ambient temperature: 5–30 °C
- Substrate moisture content: Hygrometer readings up to 98% RH, as measured in accordance with BS 8203, can be accommodated.
- Dew point: The substrate and uncured floor must be at least 3°C above the dew point to avoid condensation.
Preparation of Substrate
Poor preparation will result in failure. Remove and repair any weak, damaged, or deteriorated concrete. Make sure the surface is free from oils or other substances, including laitance, that could block the Deckmaster Formula. Test the performance of the Deckmaster Formula on the prepared slab. All slabs can be different, and even parts of the same slab can vary. Concrete poured on different bases, like on-grade versus on-deck, can also vary from the same pour.
Substrate Quality
Test the surface strength of the base concrete and remove any surface laitance. Ensure the concrete substrate has a rebound hammer reading of at least 25 according to BS EN 12504-2:2001, Type N. It should also have a surface tensile strength exceeding 1.5 N/mm² per EN 1542. The substrate must be clean and free from dust, loose material, and surface contaminants that affect bonding or prevent wetting. Apply a test area to measure bond strength according to EN 1542.
Application Methods
Apply the Deckmaster Formula using a low-pressure spray, microfiber roller, pad, or soft-bristled broom. The coverage rate depends on the concrete’s porosity.
Drying times: Typically 1-2 hours, depending on the temperature & relative humidityPhysical Properties
Unit sizes: 20kg–1000kg IBC
Coverage: 9.5 – 11.5m2/kg or 10-12m2/lt depending on substrate
Fresh Concrete
Fresh Concrete: Use undiluted with a low-pressure sprayer or spread evenly with a soft-bristled broom. Avoid puddling, ensuring all areas are fully wetted for 20 to 30 minutes. Allow the surface to dry after this period.
Old Concrete
Old Concrete: Use a low-pressure sprayer or microfiber pad/roller to wet the surface with undiluted product. Keep the surface moist for 20–30 minutes without letting it puddle. If puddles form in uneven areas, use the microfiber applicator to even them out. Pay special attention to steel-troweled surfaces. After 20 to 30 minutes, allow the surface to dry.

FAQs
Can Deckmaster Formula be used over resin flooring?
Deckmaster Formula is not suitable for resin flooring. It is specifically designed for concrete surfaces. Using it on resin floors can lead to poor results. Always check the compatibility with your flooring type before application for the best performance.
What is the expected lifespan of Deckmaster Formula flooring?
The expected lifespan of Deckmaster Formula flooring is approximately ten years. This depends on maintenance and traffic levels. Proper care and regular cleaning will help maximise durability and effectiveness throughout its life. Frequent inspections ensure optimum performance.
Are there any specific maintenance requirements for Deckmaster Formula flooring?
Routine cleaning with a neutral pH cleaner is recommended. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the surface. Regular sweeping or vacuuming can prevent dust buildup. Address spills quickly to prevent staining and maintain the floor’s appearance and durability.
