Altro Grip 1.25mm and 1mm Slip-Resistant

Altro Grip is a practical slip-resistant flooring solution designed for durability and style. The Altro Grip 1mm slip-resistant variant comes in solid colors, while the 1.25mm variant is available in either single or multi-coloured decorative finishes. Both use a high-build epoxy coating with the correct grip aggregate, sealed for a low-odour, abrasion resistant, and chemically resistant surface. Altro Grip is available in a range of colors to suit your space. Ideal for wet production areas, ramps, or warehouse entry points, it delivers reliable safety and performance with a clean, professional look.

Standard colours

Altro Grip offers 25 standard colours in its 1mm slip-resistant option. The Altro Grip 1.25mm slip-resistant variant is available additional 18 multi-coloured decorative finishes, giving you plenty of options to suit your design needs.

Non-standard colours

Altro Grip offers the option of non-standard colours for added customisation. Popular choices like safety yellow and safety red work well for line marking and small areas of demarcation. Keep in mind that these colours, along with black, are meant for specific uses, so use them thoughtfully. Bright lighting and dark colours, such as black, may highlight imperfections like roller lines or scratches. Non-standard colours may require extra lead time and cost.  

Chemical Resistance

Altro Grip resists many common chemicals, but contact with chemicals (including water during curing) can cause discolouration, staining, or changes in gloss. If a chemical spill occurs, clean it up immediately and wash the surface with water, removing it with a wet vacuum. While some chemicals may cause discolouration, this doesn’t impact the strength or durability of the resin screed.

Installation process and conditions

Work in well-ventilated areas. Keep in mind that material usage is dependent upon temperature, surface profile and porosity. Make sure both the slab and air temperature are between 15°C and 20°C. Avoid mixing or applying epoxy resin outside this range. Keep conditions at least 3°C above the dew point or below 75% relative humidity during curing. If site temperatures drop below 10°C, curing will take much longer unless you use external heating. Note that the slab temperature is usually lower than the air temperature, often by as much as 10°C, which will slow down curing.

During curing, condensation can form in humid or poorly ventilated areas, leading to a cloudy surface known as ‘blooming.’ Cold, wet, or humid conditions, combined with limited airflow, can worsen this issue. Ambient conditions will directly impact workability, open time, curing speed, and how soon the floor can handle traffic. 

Altro Grip 2mm Slip-Resistant

The FeRFA Type 4 Altro Grip 2mm slip-resistant system is a multi-layer epoxy resin designed for wet areas with an increased risk of slipping. It combines the Altro Flow 1mm standard variant with Altro Grip aggregate (0.7-1.2mm) and finishes with coloured Altro Tect seal coats for durability and a clean look.

Built for medium-duty wet areas, vehicle servicing zones, washdown spaces, and inspection pits, this system reduces the risk of slips and falls. It’s a practical, reliable flooring solution for environments where safety matters.

Standard colours

The Altro Grip 2mm slip-resistant finish comes in 25 decorative colours. Bespoke colour options are available but require extra lead time and sample approval. Be aware that, like other epoxy resin finishes, lighter colours may show some discolouration when exposed to UV light.

Chemical resistance

Chemical resistance: Altro Grip 2mm slip-resistant flooring is designed to handle many commonly used chemicals. However, during the curing process, contact with chemicals (including water) can cause discolouration, staining, or changes in gloss. If a chemical spill happens, clean it up quickly and rinse the surface with water. Use a wet vacuum to remove any leftover water. Installation process and conditions

To get the best performance and lifespan from Altro Grip 4.5mm Slip-Resistant flooring, follow these key guidelines:

• Application Temperature: Apply between 10°C and 25°C. Don’t mix or lay epoxy resin outside this range.
• Ventilation: Work in well-ventilated areas. Keep conditions at least 3°C above the dew point or below 75% relative humidity during curing.
• Slab and Air Temperature: Both slab and air temperatures should stay between 10°C and 25°C. Keep in mind, slabs are typically cooler than the air, which can slow curing.
• Condensation: Prevent moisture from condensing on the surface, as this can leave a cloudy finish. Cold, wet, or humid conditions with poor airflow make this more likely.
• Ambient Conditions: Cold, wet, or humid environments and limited airflow can affect curing, workability, and drying time. Adjust your process accordingly.

Altro Grip 4.5mm Slip-Resistant

The Altro Grip 4.5mm Slip-Resistant system is a multi-layer epoxy resin designed for areas with a higher risk of slipping. It combines Altro Screed 3mm with Altro Grip aggregate and clear seal coats to create a safe, durable floor. Ideal for food prep areas, wet production zones, wash-down areas, changing rooms, and showers, it provides slip resistance, chemical and stain resistance, and good abrasion resistance. When substrate joints are properly handled, it delivers a seamless floor finish and a practical solution for demanding environments.

Altro Grip 4.5mm delivers strong performance with a focus on sustainability. This slip-resistant option comes in 18 decorative finishes to fit different spaces. Custom colours are available with lead times and sample approval. Like other epoxy resin finishes, lighter colours may show some discolouration under UV exposure, but the surface retains its chemical resistance. The Altro Grip 6mm slip-resistant system is a multi-layer epoxy resin designed for wet, heavy-duty areas with a higher risk of slipping. This Altro Grip variant combines the Altro Flow 3mm base with Altro Grip aggregate C52 and Altro Tect coloured seal coats. This setup provides slip resistance and durability, making it ideal for packing areas, workshops, warehouses, and other demanding spaces. It comes in a range of colours, offers chemical and stain resistance, and delivers a seamless finish when substrate joints are addressed. The system is fully bonded to the substrate, has strong impact resistance, and cures quickly for efficient installation.

Installation process and conditions 

Apply Altro Grip textured surface in well-ventilated areas. Make sure the slab and air temperature are between 10°C and 25°C during application. Mixing and laying epoxy resin outside this range is not recommended. Keep ambient conditions at least 3°C above the dew point or below 75% relative humidity (R.H.) during the initial curing stages. If the site temperature is below 10°C, expect longer cure times unless external heating is used.

Poor airflow, combined with cold or wet conditions, can lead to condensation on partially cured floors.
