Variants of Altro Flow for Flooring

Altro Flow is available in 1mm standard, 2mm standard, and 3mm standard options to meet different environmental needs. A 3mm static-dissipative option is also available. It is designed for areas with electronically sensitive environments and equipment. It offers the performance benefits of epoxy resin flooring systems and is typically installed over a ring or grid of conductive tape connected to an electrical earth. This controls the flow of electrostatic charge. This variant is measured in accordance with the test method in BS 2050 when used on prepared substrates treated with Altro Prime™ static-dissipative variant.

Altro Flow 1mm, 2mm and 3mm Standard

Standard Colours

The Altro Flow variants are available in 25 standard colours. Custom colours are available within limits. Lighter colours may yellow when exposed to UV light, like other epoxy products. Single-colour high-gloss finishes can show scratches and wear, especially in dark colours. A metallised maintenance coating like Altro Gloss 211 can provide protection based on customer needs and the environment.

Sustainability and Chemical Resistance

Altro’s sustainability program aims to optimise our use of the planet’s resources. Altro Flow variants resist many common chemicals. 

Contact with chemicals during curing can cause discolouration, staining, and gloss changes. Spills must be cleaned up immediately, and the surface should be washed with clean water and then dried with a wet vacuum. Some chemicals may cause discolouration, but the resin screed’s durability and integrity remain intact.

Applications and Installation Conditions

This guide is based on lab and simulated site conditions. If your installation conditions differ from Altro’s guidelines, performance may vary. Ensure the right conditions for effective material application and customer satisfaction.

Work in well-ventilated areas. Maintain slab and air temperatures between 10°C and 25°C. Do not mix or apply epoxy resin products outside this range. Keep ambient conditions at least 3°C above the dew point or below 75% RH during initial curing. At temperatures below 10°C, curing takes longer without external heating. Avoid heating methods that increase humidity, such as burning fossil fuels. Concrete slabs are often cooler than air by about 10°C, affecting the cure rate. Moisture may condense on curing resin flooring, causing surface clouding. Do not apply Altro Flow when temperatures are rising to prevent pinholes. Raise and maintain substrate temperature during application. Ambient conditions greatly impact workability, open time, cure development, and the return to traffic.

Altro Flow 3mm Static-Dissipative – (Static-Dissipative Flow Applied Epoxy Resin Flooring)

Altro Flow 3mm static-dissipative is a three-part, epoxy-based material for application on site. It creates a smooth, hygienic, seamless surface with static-dissipative properties. Static buildup is prevented by allowing the charge to dissipate through the floor at a controlled rate. Many industrial processes generate stray static electrical charges. In areas where electrostatic accumulation might damage equipment or where it needs to be prevented during the movement or processing of powders and liquids, static-controlled floors are necessary.

Note: Altro Flow 3mm static-dissipative is not a fully conductive floor. Do not use it in areas where spontaneous release of static charge might cause an explosion, such as with gases, flammable liquids, munitions, or pyrotechnics.

Clean up spills immediately, wash the surface with water, and use a wet vacuum to remove the water. While some chemicals might cause discolouration, this doesn’t necessarily affect the resin screed’s durability and integrity.

To achieve the best results, establish the correct conditions for effective material application and meet customer expectations.

Ensure good ventilation. Keep slab and air temperatures between 10°C and 25°C. Avoid mixing and laying epoxy resin products outside this range. Maintain ambient conditions at least 3°C above the dew point or below 75% R.H. during curing. 

Below 10°C, cure times increase unless external heating is used. Usually, the concrete slab temperature is about 10°C lower than the air temperature, affecting the cure rate. Moisture vapour may condense and cloud the surface in condensing conditions. Cold, wet, or humid conditions and limited airflow can cause condensation on the partially cured floor. Ambient conditions significantly impact workability, open time, cure development, and return to traffic. 

Do not lay the Altro Flow 3mm static-dissipative variant on rising temperatures, which can cause pinholes. Preheat the substrate and maintain its temperature during application.
