Preparation of Substrate

Inadequate preparation will lead to loss of adhesion and failure. Weak, damaged and deteriorated concrete should be removed where necessary and repaired. The laitance and any surface sealer or curing membrane should be entirely removed by vacuum contained shot-blasting to expose the aggregate cleanly. High spots should be removed by grinding. The prepared substrate should be protected from further contamination prior to application.

Substrate Quality

Test the surface strength of the base concrete after preparation once surface laitance is removed. The concrete should have a rebound hammer reading per BS EN 12504-2:2001, Type N, of at least 25 and a surface tensile strength exceeding 1.5 N/mm² according to EN 1542. Ensure the substrate is clean and free from dust, loose materials, and contaminants that reduce bond or prevent suction. Use a vacuum for cleaning. Apply a test area to measure bond strength as per EN 1542 to confirm results.

Application Conditions

  • General guidance – Do not apply if rain is expected. Store products properly before use to maintain their properties.
  • Substrate & ambient temperature – 5–30 °C
  • Substrate moisture content -Hygrometer readings can reach up to 98% RH. Measurements are taken according to BS 8203 standards.
  • Dew point – Ensure the substrate and uncured floor are at least 3 °C above the dewpoint to prevent condensation or blooming.

Application Methods

Mixing: Add the hardener to the resin and mix with a low-speed electric mixer (300-400 rpm) for at least 3 minutes until smooth. Keep the paddle submerged to avoid air bubbles, and scrape the sides and bottom of the vessel.

Application: Use a flat-bladed squeegee and pile roller for the DPM Primer. Apply the membrane evenly with a spattle, spatula, or trowel at the required coverage rate. Apply the UVR seal coat with the same squeegee and pile roller as used for the DPM primer layer. The resin floor provides a smooth and continuous surface essential for high-traffic areas.
