vebroscreed Industrial

vebroscreed Industrial is a deep-fill, rapid-setting and hardening, high strength, single-part, cementitious smoothing underlayment screed that can be applied up to depths of 50.0 mm prior to the installation of thick floor coverings or resin finishes.

vebroscreed Industrial is ideal for large projects and can be pump-applied to speed up installation. It can also be used with vebroscreed Top for a durable surface in high-traffic areas.

Features

  • 30 – 40 minutes working time
  • Foot traffic in 2 – 3 hours
  • Pump or trowel applied
  • Suitable to receive a resin floor coating system
  • Suitable for underfloor heating systems
  • Protein-free
  • Can be used with vebroscreed Top as a wearing surface
  • Moisture tolerant

Substrate Preparation

vebroscreed Industrial is moisture tolerant and suitable for cementitious subfloors without a Damp Proof Membrane (DPM) if there’s no risk of hydrostatic pressure from below. If resin coatings or floor coverings are applied, protect the product from rising moisture, including residual construction moisture, using vebro EP Primer or vebro EP DPM before overlaying. Remove any surface laitance, adhesive residue, paint, or other materials that hinder bonding.

Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, structurally sound, and has a minimum compressive strength of 30 N/mm². The area should be dust-free before primer application. Test subfloors according to BS 8203 for moisture levels below 75% RH. If this isn’t achieved or if DPM incorporation is uncertain, apply vebro EP Universal Primer or vebro EP DPM Plus first, with appropriate quartz sand surface blinding.

Vebroscreed Primer

vebroscreed Primer is a moisture-tolerant, water-based polymer primer that acts as a sealer and bonding aid. It is suitable for both porous and non-porous surfaces.

This primer stabilises the surface and reduces absorbency. It helps materials to flow, cure, and bond effectively.

Use vebroscreed Primer before applying cementitious underlayments and in multilayer applications. It helps minimise pinholes and improve interlayer adhesion.

Features

  • Can be overlaid after 1–2 hours
  • Moisture tolerant
  • Improves adhesion
  • Reduces pinholing effect
  • Can be used as a curing agent
  • Pigmented for coverage control
  • Can be used on a wide variety of substrates

Substrate Preparation

All surfaces must be dry, stable, and free from contaminants like dust, oils, and grease. Remove all surface treatments. Roughen smooth surfaces through mechanical methods such as scabbling, shot blasting or grinding. Test concrete or cementitious bases to ensure moisture is below 75% RH, as per BS8203. If moisture levels are too high or there’s no damp-proof membrane, apply a suitable Vebro Polymers epoxy surface DPM system.

Subfloor Preparation: Which Type of Substrate?

Protect all substrates from moisture using a base damp proof membrane (DPM). Check moisture levels as per BS 8203 to ensure a hygrometer reading of 75% RH or less. If not, apply a surface DPM like vebro EP Universal Primer or vebro EP DPM Plus. Consult Vebro Polymers if needed. Remove surface laitance, adhesive residue, paint, weak underlayments, and other materials that may hinder vebrocrete Renovation’s bond with the subfloor using vacuum captive shot blasting or vacuum-assisted diamond grinding.

Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, and sound. Vacuum to remove dust before applying primer. Test subfloors according to BS 8203 for moisture levels below 75% RH. If not achieved or if a DPM is uncertain, apply vebro EP Universal Primer or vebro EP DPM Plus. Use quartz sand on wet primer or let it cure and apply vebroscreed Primer before overlaying with vebroscreed Renovate.

V-Screed

v-Screed is an additive used in Portland cement, sand, and aggregate screeds to create early drying, high-strength screeds with standard and heavy-duty mix designs. A high compressive strength variant, v-ScreedHDP, is available with polymer modification. v-Screed is ideal for high-traffic areas needing high strength (Category A) screeds, especially with thin finishes such as carpet, vinyl, wood, or resin, and is suitable for airports, shopping centres, and hospitals. Typically, a smoothing compound is needed on the screed before applying thin vinyl, while the carpet is more forgiving. v-Screed is perfect for fast-track construction and refurbishment projects where quick trafficability or overlaying is necessary.

For heavy trafficking areas like airport terminals, hospital concourses, and stock rooms, v-Screed (Heavy Duty Mix) is recommended for Category A soundness. v-Screed (Heavy Duty Mix) is also suitable for commercial areas expecting resin floor finishes, excluding polyurethane concrete finishes. vebroscreed SBR, a 50% solids liquid additive, is added to v-Screed HDP for car parking and areas requiring pumped screed with higher compressive strength. It can receive vebrodeck resin-based car park coatings or the same finishes as v-Screed (Standard Mix) and v-Screed (Heavy Duty Mix).

Features

  • Foot traffic in 24 hours
  • Can be overlaid in 4 days from removal of the curing polythene sheet at 50.0 mm
  • Can be overlaid in 6 days from removal of the curing polythene sheet at 75.0 – 100.0 mm
  • Suitable to achieve Category A, B & C screeds
  • BS 8204-1 Surface Regularity – SR2
  • Apply bonded, unbonded and floating
  • Suitable for underfloor heating systems
  • Suitable to receive a resin floor coating system
  • Suitable for use in conjunction with screed pumps

Minimum Thicknesses

Here are the minimum thickness requirements for laying v-Screed. These are the minimum allowed at any point on the floor. The extra thickness should account for slab-level tolerances and precast plank cambers. In hospitals, v-Screed should be at least 40.0 mm thick. If laid on 1 or 2 coats of vebro EP DPM Plus, the minimum can be 30.0 mm.

Application

  • Mix v-Screed with Ordinary Portland Cement, water, and reinforcement fibres for bonded, unbonded, and floating screed applications. It also works in screeds for underfloor heating.
  • v-Screed (Standard Mix) fits all commercial and domestic uses according to BS 8204.
  • Use v-Screed (Heavy Duty Mix) in areas with heavy traffic or where resin floor finishes are applied.
